Gold Hits Highest Level in Two Weeks

Gold prices climbed to a two-week high on Tuesday as the US dollar weakened following President Donald Trump's announcement of the removal of Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve. By 00:55 GMT, spot gold prices increased by 0.5 percent to reach $3384.34 per ounce, marking the highest point since August 11.

Additionally, US gold futures for December delivery rose by 0.4 percent to $3432.40. The dollar index fell by 0.3 percent against a basket of currencies, making gold more attractive for foreign buyers.

Trump made an unprecedented move by dismissing Lisa Cook, the first African-American woman to serve as a Federal Reserve board member, after allegations of misconduct related to two mortgages.

Among other precious metals, spot silver rose by 0.4 percent to $38.72 per ounce. Meanwhile, platinum increased by 0.7 percent to $1352, and palladium surged by 1 percent to register $1096.75.
