Gold Falls from Its Highest Level in Three Weeks

Gold prices edged down from a more than three-week high today, Thursday, due to a stronger dollar. Investors are eagerly awaiting the resumption of U.S. economic data release to gauge the interest rate outlook.

The spot price of gold dipped 0.1 percent to $4194.63 per ounce, after hitting its highest level since October 21 in the previous session.

Gold futures for December delivery declined 0.3 percent to $4199.30 per ounce. Meanwhile, the dollar index extended its gains against rival currencies, rendering gold less appealing to holders of other currencies.

Among other precious metals, silver remained stable in spot transactions at $53.37 per ounce. Platinum rose 0.1 percent to $1616.24, whereas palladium fell 0.6 percent to $1465.21.
